Lake of the Ozarks
In 1952 my father built a cabin on the Lake of the Ozarks near Camdenton, Missouri. The family spent many enjoyable summer vacations at the cabin. In addition to the many friends we shared the summer with there was of course swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, rodeos, eating out, caves, and enjoying ourselves. There was no TV or telephone, but there were evenings spent listening to "Shock Theater" on the radio or playing games with friends. The 4th of July always meant doing fireworks by the lake so we could watch their reflection in the water.

| Close by was the scenic view from Lover's Leap. This high point of rock overlooked the junction of the Osage and Niangua Rivers with Linn Creek. The town of Linn Creek is now at the bottom of the lake. Of course there is the legend that an indian maiden jumped to her death from this rock because she could not marry her love. | ![]() |

In the center of this picture is the Night Hawks Cafe. On occasion the family would get to go to town for dinner at the cafe. |
